MFW EX1850: Week Three

No hurricane vacation in our house!  School was canceled for two days in our county so the kids were a little disappointed they didn't get time off from school as well. But how could we when there was Jamestown colonists to learn about, and Native American wigwams to construct?  It was a little difficult to get the boys to concentrate on shredding construction paper and gluing cardboard when they kept wanting to go outside to see how windy it was.  (Which, by the way, it didn't get much windier than a bad thunderstorm in out area, except most of the time there wasn't rain or even clouds.)

So I won a few points by letting them take breaks to go run around in the wind a few times (again, it was not even close to Jim Cantore conditions out there) and then they came in and glued their wigwams together and did math and spelling and all that other boring-compared-to-40-mph-wind-gusts-outside stuff.

Christopher is doing well working in Saxon math this year.  It takes longer than Singapore ever did, but he gets it quickly still and has yet to use the instructor CD-ROM that came with the course.

The boys are enjoying our study of animals for science.  For this assignment, they had to draw or paste pictures of vertebrates to the paper.  They get so silly with their pictures sometimes.

Leah's loving preschool whenever I get a chance to fit it in.  We've been reading The Runaway Bunny for a while now, so she's enjoying whatever bunny crafts and I can pull out of my hat.  hehehe

We are starting up our fall semester of our homeschool co-op next week.  They are doing a Medieval theme this year and I'll be co-teaching the games class again.  This time it's more like p.e. games than board games, so I hope the cool weather kicks in soon!

Have a great week!

Looks like a great week of school! My kids are really enjoying animal science, too. We haven't made the wigwams yet. I think we'll do that tomorrow. Hope you have a great 4th week!
