So, it's been weeks since I've last updated! I don't even know what happened...between our old laptop dying and the craziness of just life going on, I just haven't been on lately.
School's going great. We are now reading in Genesis about Abraham and memorizing the Ten Commandments. We're not much further along in our history time period, still in ancient Egyptian times. The boys love learning about pyramids and doing the hands on activities that go along with that.
Gabe finished up his units on sun, moon, leaf, and apple, learning the sound that each of those words begin with.
The older boys have started flag football and played their first game on this past Saturday. It's been pretty rainy here lately so that was a bit muddy for all of us.
All three of the boys had their last tumbling class last week as we are taking a break from that while football is going on.
They all started Awana back up for the school year a few weeks ago and are back to memorizing Bible verses for that.
Anna is 8 1/2 months now and is sitting and Army crawling well. She's all over the place and is good at finding little things to put in her mouth. I've almost got the whole downstairs 'choking hazard' proof, but with four older siblings, wow, it is not easy!
Since we found out we are not moving to Arizona this fall, we decided to rearrange bedroom arrangements. Christopher and Matthew moved from "the boys' room" into the playroom. Leah moved in with Gabe from her room. Anna moved from one of our master bedroom closets into Leah's old room. Leah is loving her big girl bed and does an awesome job of staying in it. The only downside is that she's been waking up a bit earlier than usual. The boys wake up between 7:00 and 7:30 and Leah does a couple times a week now when Gabriel inadvertantly wakes her up. Her usual is between 8:00 and 9:00.
So that's what's been going on in a nutshell. We are still hanging out all morning at home or the gym and schooling in the afternoon during the girls' nap. Leah doesn't nap everyday, but she'll stay in her bed for the whole three hours, so hopefully that'll keep happening for a while so that we'll have enough time for school plus a little extra where I can just kick my feet up and take a breath!
I'll get pictures uploaded and give a big picture update as well.
Miss you! And I am so glad I am not the only mom who imposes the 3 hours of peace and quiet (sleep or no sleep) rule! Hope Leah goes back to sleeping every day!
ReplyDeleteI love the flexibility of being able to school during the part of the day that works best! You have a busy home with "five little monkies" running/crawling around but it sounds like you've got it under control! :)
